Case: Offshore cleaning on Floatel Superior

The SAR carried out an offshore cleaning project at Floatel Superior for our customer Floatel International. The project took place as the Floatel Superior was on its way to dock at Skipavika Port Terminal, north of Bergen.

The SAR was tasked with cleaning, sandblasting and painting six tanks for hydraulic oil on the rig. The tanks had challenges with cooling, as salt water is used in the cooling system. Over time, the tanks had developed algae growth, condensation and rust. Surface damage could affect the rig's propulsion and control systems in the long term.

The project focused on removing oil and grease residues from all six tanks, before the subcontractor Multi Maintenance performed surface treatment with sandblasting and painting.

Floatel International, established in 2006, delivers top quality offshore floatels for extreme conditions, with modern fleet certified according to international standards, designed for demanding environments and projects worldwide.

“We deliver reliable and high-performance floatels, designed for deep water and demanding environments around the world.”

Floatel Superior is a semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel (floatel) designed for global operations, focusing on some of the world's most challenging environments, such as the Northern North Sea.
