Vår historie

From septic tanks to offshore

Our story begins with Septik Tank Co, which was founded in Tananger by Peder Jåsund in the late 1960s. In 1987, SpesialRogaland AS was founded, and was among the first in Norway to obtain a transport and landfill permit for the fractions we now call hazardous waste.

When SAR started its operations in 1987, its offer and scope were limited. 30 years later, our recycling and recycling specialists now offer a full range of services, often referred to under the trademark Waste Chain Management (WCM®).

Today, we focus primarily on hazardous waste fractions and drilling wastes from the petroleum industry, and with our experience and national presence, we can offer both consulting, handling and treatment at our own facilities.

As one of Norway's leading providers of waste management services, we spend a lot of time and resources on keeping up to date on both technology and service scope. As a result, we can constantly offer more products and services to our customers and partners.

We always use the best available technology (BAT) and best environmental practices (BEP). A key part of our business is to offer our customers training and advice to minimise waste and make effective decisions about how to sort and manage their waste.

The Green Transition

The world is going through a transition to a greener and more environmentally sustainable society. As a provider of Waste Chain Management to our customers, SAR takes the responsibility of contributing to this transition very seriously.

We aim to ensure that waste management is carried out safely throughout the entire value chain — from the waste being produced by the customer, to being handled by us in the SAR and finally disposed of.

We are going to prioritize sustainability in every choice we make. This applies to procurement, chemicals, equipment, energy consumption and energy carriers, emissions and waste. We will ensure the best possible use of resources and contribute to minimal environmental impact, both internally and with our customers and partners.
