SAR puts trust and mental preparedness on the agenda

For World Mental Health Day, SAR is participating in this year's campaign, "Trust is Preparedness." From Stavanger in the south to Hammerfest in the north, we are highlighting how trust can strengthen both our work environment and our mental preparedness.

More activities and broad engagement

Between weeks 39 and 42, we are carrying out a series of activities across the company. The theme is being highlighted through films, information materials, and workshops where employees reflect, discuss, and solve tasks together. Safety representatives and peer supporters are key contributors to the campaign.

The goal is to spark meaningful conversations about how we can work together to strengthen the culture at SAR and build even greater trust in one another.

Trust is built in everyday life

‍Building trust is about seeing each other, listening, showing understanding, being inclusive, and offering help. Small actions in everyday life can make a big difference for both the individual and the community. As part of the campaign, psychologist and professor Frode Thuen participated in a webinar for our employees, where he shared insights into the importance of trust for people and the work environment. For SAR, trust is a vital foundation for a safe and healthy workplace.

Seeking support should be natural

‍The campaign also aims to make it clear where our employees can find help when life becomes challenging or when their mental health needs a little extra attention. Most of us will experience difficult periods during our lives, which is why this is a topic that concerns us all.

We are good at taking action when we have back pain or need help with physical ailments. We want everyone to be just as good at seeking support when their mental health needs a little extra attention, says our VP People & Organisation, Randi Skjæveland.

An international awareness day with a national campaign

World Mental Health Day is marked on October 10th and is an international UN day that puts mental health on the agenda in more than 150 countries. In Norway, the day is marked through a national public campaign during weeks 39–42, developed and run by Mental Helse with funding from the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
