SAR collaborates with students from the University of Molde to strengthen knowledge and develop more efficient and sustainable solutions within waste management.
Lucas Menardi-Bjørkhaug and Lars Erik Fenstad are in their final semester of bachelor's studies in sustainable logistics and circular economy, and marine logistics and economics, respectively. In collaboration with SAR Kristiansund, they are now writing a bachelor thesis focusing on improving the management of waste oil.
Identifying bottlenecks in the value chain
The thesis examines which bottlenecks occur in the handling of waste oil, and how these affect the supply chain. The aim is to identify concrete measures that can contribute to more efficient processes and better utilization of resources.
The work involves, among other things, data collection through interviews and analyses of existing processes. The results will provide valuable insights into how we can further develop our services.
Collaboration that creates value
For SAR, collaboration with students and educational venues is an important part of our development work. Such projects provide new perspectives and contribute to innovation in the face of complex challenges in sustainability and logistics.
It is both inspiring and instructive to work with students who bring in new knowledge and engagement. At the same time, we give them insight into how theory is applied in practice.
An evolving industry
Through collaborations like this, SAR wants to contribute to skills building and recruitment to an important forward-looking industry. Efficient and sustainable waste oil management is essential for both the environment and industry and requires continuous development.
