Classification

Waste code: 7097

Suggested EWC codes: 060405 (Liquid waste containing heavy metals) 160507 (Inorganic chemical residues) 160506 (Liquid inorganic laboratory chemicals) 165073 (Offshore brine)*

Hazard class: 6.1

Packing group: II III

UN no.: 3287

*165073 is normally not subject to IMDG/ADR. See the data sheet for the waste. Several EWC codes and transport classifications fall within this fraction. Determine the correct classification for your waste using the safety data sheet or contact SAR for advice.

Packaging and shipping

Inorganic solutions and baths can be sent in leakproof packages such as jerrycans, drums and IBCs approved for the waste concerned.

Recycling and processing

The waste is treated at a plant approved to treat this type of waste.

Requirements and criteria

Dangerous goods must be packed in UN-approved packaging. If the consignment contains an oxygen scavenger, this must be stated in the declaration to prevent exposure of personnel handling the waste.

If a data sheet is available, it must be attached to the declaration. Other relevant information, such as analytical results, additives and treatment, must be included in the declaration.

Further information

The requirements described in GOMO (Guidelines for Offshore Marine Operations) must accompany bulk shipments. Measurements including TOC and salt in the water phase will be carried out on receipt onshore. Use supplied-air respiratory equipment when handling oxygen scavengers. When transferring an oxygen scavenger to a tanker truck, the atmosphere around the vehicle will be hazardous due to oxygen-depleted air discharged from the vacuum pump.
