Classification

Waste code: 7096

Suggested EWC codes: 190111 (Bottom ash and slag) 190113 (Fly ash) 160507 (Cement and mortar) 160807 (Catalysts) 060404 (Catalyst material with traces of mercury following gas purification)

Hazard class: Not subject to IMDG/ADR

Packing group: Not subject to IMDG/ADR

UN no.: Not subject to IMDG/ADR

Several EWC codes and transport classifications fall within this fraction. Some catalysts may require transport classification. Determine the correct classification for your waste using the safety data sheet or contact SAR for advice

Packaging and shipping

The waste can be sent in drums. If the waste has a transport classification, UN-approved packaging must be used.

Recycling and processing

The waste can be recycled as material, but is mainly sent to landfill.

Requirements and criteria

If a data sheet is available, it must be attached to the declaration.

Further information

Spent catalyst material may in some cases be oxidising and spontaneously combustible. Clear, highly visible labelling is important, and the labelling must accurately reflect the contents of the package. The data sheet and other relevant information must be attached to the declaration.

Get an overview of technical terms and codes used in the waste management guide

The waste guide uses technical terms and codes to describe how different types of waste should be identified, classified, and handled. This makes it easier to find the correct waste fraction and comply with requirements for sorting, packaging, and delivery.
