Packaging and shipping

The plastic fractions are sorted separately in transparent plastic bags. Can be sent in either closed or open containers. Plastic waste should preferably be compacted before transport.

Recycling and processing

Material recycling or incineration with energy recovery. Plastic recycling depends on the degree of sorting. It is therefore best to deliver sorted fractions. Uniform plastic is best suited to material recycling

Requirements and criteria

Businesses generating household-like waste must separate recyclable plastic waste at source and deliver it for material recycling (Norwegian Waste Regulations § 10a).

Plastic packaging must be free of product residues when separated at source. Excess water or residues on the plastic may cause mould growth and increase the weight of the waste during transport.

Further information

More thorough sorting may reduce costs: mixed plastic waste (1799), for example, can be further sorted into soft plastic (1711), rigid plastic (1721), clean polystyrene foam (1731) and big bags (1713). Film should also preferably be sorted separately, as clear and coloured film, or agricultural film (1711).
