Cylinders/containers are recycled as material or reused, and gas is used for energy recovery.
Cylinders must have protective caps and be sent in suitable racks or strapped to a pallet. Cylinders must be labelled with a cable-tied tag stating the declaration number, waste code/EWC code, UN number, expiry and/or manufacture date, R-gas type, tare weight, kilograms of gas in the cylinder and waste producer's name. A declaration must accompany each R-gas type to ensure traceability and eligibility for a refund.
If a data sheet is available, it must be attached to the declaration.
Some gases qualify for a refund. To qualify for a refund, the declaration must include confirmation that the gas was purchased in Norway and that the environmental levy has been paid. If SAR is to prepare the declaration on the customer's behalf, the confirmation must be sent to SAR.
Compensation for the gases is subject to specific rules and depends on the gas and cylinder. There is normally a delay in payment of the refund. An agreement/contract for delivery with a refund must be entered into with SAR before delivery.
