Several EWC codes and transport classifications fall within this fraction. Determine the correct classification for your waste using the safety data sheet or contact SAR for advice.

Packaging and shipping

The waste can be sent in various types of packaging, such as tight-head drums, IBCs, tanks and bulk.

Recycling and processing

Waste contaminated with crude oil or condensate is used for energy recovery.

Requirements and criteria

The packaging must be UN-approved and suitable for storage and transport. Liquid waste must be sent in leakproof packaging. Open-head drums are not approved for liquid hazardous waste. Skips/containers with lids must not be used to transport flammable waste. Such packaging may lead to increased handling costs, unwanted incidents and spills.

Relevant information about the waste (e.g. origin, composition, analytical results, additives and pretreatment) must be included in the declaration. The data sheet must be attached to the declaration.

Further information

The waste normally has flammable properties, with a flash point below 60 °C. In some cases, waste containing crude oil may have a flash point above 60 °C.
